It can be so difficult to work with uncooperative people that provide sloppy answers & leave a discussion abruptly in é process of hashing up a plan. Especially when the friend we're doing it for is one that matters to us and it's their birthday. Can nobody help with anything. The worst is telling me that there's no point in asking you for help because you're going to be useless. You can't get a cake; You can't help with the present; You don't want to pay for your own meal.

Then- to acknowledge is one thing, but to ignore something I'm asking if you can do, is another. For crying out loud if you don't want to help just tell me you can't rather than ignore me altogether and leave the discussion. Even if you can't make it to the party, does that mean you can't help entirely? I love my friends but sometimes we can be uncooperative whether we know it or not. Yes, I use we because I might be guilty of this too. When it comes to the people that matter, one should go the extra mile.

I was told I'm blowing things out of proportion because I told my friend he was rude for leaving the discussion before we could finalize the plan. To which he replied i was being whiny and blowing it up bigger than it is. When I asked how I was 'blowing things out of proportion', he replied a whole slew of things (Para1Line4) which in a nutshell was trying to say he is useless and I made a big deal probably because I was having a bad day and taking it out on him- Not true.

I'm not complaining that I'm left to do everything by myself because I don't mind it at all. But when it comes to preparing something for a friend on their birthday, I would rather much like everyone to play a part in the process and not let it be a one man show.

People run away from the things their afraid of. After expressing my thoughts to some 'acquaintances' I got the feeling that I hit a nerve with my comments. This somebody started behaving quieter than usual. My theory? When somebody knows you're right, their too caught up in denial to admit their mistake. Hence, they began acting out on you because they were too immature to face the truth and you just shoved it in their face. If you've got the balls to say or do something, then have the guts to man up to it and face the facts. Twisting your words may suppress your guilt but it won't remove it. Why make some trivial practical joke bigger than it should be!

I've come to experience many people in my years and I've seen 'The Good', 'The Bad', and 'The Ugly'.

The GOOD are ones with proper etiquette and social responsibility. They basically have morals and live by a code of conduct. They don't hold grudges and are not very petty.

The BAD are ones who know what they want and go for it whether it means hurting somebody in the process as long as it makes them look good. However, they do it openly and not in a way that stabs you in the back, i.e. they will tell you off if they have to.

The UGLY to summarize in one word are, 'hypocrites'. They are two faced and will not admit to their mistakes. Their a loaded gun, appearing to be your friend but what their really doing is collecting Intel/ ammunition and will use it to their advantage if the time ever comes for it.

It's not that difficult to begin with the truth. Maybe something you said or did could have just been a practical joke and twisting your story or pointing to others will just end you up shooting yourself in the aftermath. Honesty is the foundation of any kind of relationship or friendship.

Shifting Gears

You are in the driver's seat so take the wheel and don't let go. Life is so indefinite. Feelings like people, come and go. As much as you'd love to take control and have everyone see your way, we've gotta take reality more seriously. At some point you start to wonder if it was all worth it. What were you really doing it for and if your actions even mattered. The only constant is you.

The stars above give some hope. No matter what happens, the world continues spinning and life will be better off with or without you. There's too much crazy in the world to take things too seriously. Kickback and sip your tea. The world's not going anywhere, just you. Swing from tree to tree. Bust out of that shoe box and catch some waves.

When The Going Gets Tough, The Tough Get Going

A few weeks ago Nikki passed me Seasons 1-3 of 90210. I began watching it and thought the show was terrible but nonetheless still continued on - Because I like drama and they do have some good writing in the series. However, they need better actors.

The characters in the series are out of control and have no freakin' sense of loyalty. The worst character is Dickson. If you've watched the show you would know how incredibly pretentious he is. He is the epitome of the kind of friend, brother and son you wouldn't want to have.

Although some can't act they make up for it with their good looks and very seductive personality i.e. Adrianna. She's the prettiest one in the show and her character has that typical Hollywood cycle - Drugs, rehab, pregnancy, cheating, etc. Not a good role model but a sight for sore eyes nonetheless.

When the going gets tough, the tough get going

It really bothers me that each friend is always abandoned when they've hit rock bottom. Their compadres rather have nothing to do with them than to be there and go through the rough patches in life with their friend. Isn't that the process of growing and building the friendship/ relationship?

The power of love

The show is a testimony that relationships never last. Love, loyalty and lust (go figure) doesn't mean a thing. What happened to being there for each other through thick and thin? Words are meaningless and temporary is the conclusion one can make. They do talk about being open and trusting each other but when it all boils down to that moment to prove that they do indeed TRUST one another, they hide and they take shelter to save face. Seriously, I know it can be hard but at least try!

Everybody deserves a second chance

The show does emphasize here and there about how you can make amends and prove your loyalty to the one you love and be part of them. I'm such a sucker for second chances and as much as I hate to admit it, I've got a soft heart that just melts when I see that. You can't stay mad at someone you've been so close to before. Time heals everything.

However, it never crosses the mind's of men until their mature or old enough and tired of playing the field. But anyways, this weekend we got a chance to catch up with an old childhood friend who just got married. Michael is the second from our childhood clan to get 'hitched'. Actually, they got married exactly 5 years ago by ROM but now they've decided to have a big celebration with family and friends since they didn't have an elaborate one yet to mark the occasion.

The wedding or renewal of vows was held at Crowne Plaza hotel. Congratulations to Mike and Mitz!

Own Time, Own Target!

Who says there's nothing to do on this island? In fact, in my opinion, there's so many ways one can enjoy and easily entertain themselves or visitors. But anyway, I bring this up because last week we celebrated Deb's 21st birthday with a round of Laser Tag. It is without a doubt, strenuous but so bloody enjoyable.

With all the targeting and live range experience in the army, it must have really paid off. We did have a round of paint ball in BMT back in December which did not quite go so well. I got hit twice, one on the neck and another on the butt. Trust me it is not very nice. Laser Tag on the other hand only involves a shock/ vibration when you are hit by the 'enemy'. Overall, I ranked 3rd among the whole party of 30! Yes, I'm so modest I know. Haha!

Camaraderie Of Soldiers

An overwhelming feeling of nostalgia hit me just when I threw my jockey cap in the air. That moment every recruit awaits while going through their Basic Military Training (BMT) as it signifies the completion of our BMT and on to the next phase of our training. My batch fortunately was lucky enough to have our Graduation Parade at Marina Bay on the floating platform after a very demanding 24Km route march. Come to think of it, it was more of a sight-seeing experience marching by the airport, east coast park and marina bay. I will never forget the people and friends I've made this last 9 weeks of enduring pain and going through the struggles of the military life together.

Some things I'll never forget;

Digging a shell-scrape for the first time at field camp
Turnout at 4 in the morning for our rifle collection
Making a bon fire and sitting under the gotex jacket to block the rain and keep warm with my section
Entrusted as Platoon i/c for a week
Directing the National Education day showcase for our company

There's definitely more that just these 5 but for now that's all I'm gonna list down.

Deception, the ultimate evil.

We need to have more saintly people around us, strictly speaking just plain honesty would be great. What can we do if we see that something is not right. If people we are surrounded by are so fucked up and deceptive. Should we close one eye and pretend everything is fine. But when you ignore a problem, the problem is only going to get bigger.

Help me to understand how someone can be so twisted, shallow and unappreciative. Somebody who claims to care so much and wants to avoid hurting another party BUT goes ahead and does it anyway.

I've concluded that people today are missing what they call good old SINCERITY and APPRECIATION.

PS: I'm not claiming to be a Saint if anybody gets that idea.

Christmas Speed

What is the season of Christmas really about? Eating? Praying? Showing love to the less fortunate? Spending time with loved ones? Or maybe finding an excuse to party. Whatever the case may be, Christmas is the time we celebrate the birth of Christ and we have so many ways of celebrating with Jesus because he is the reason we have this holiday.

On Christmas eve, some friends and I had planned to spend time at ECP after Mass @ St Pat's. However, due to some unforeseen circumstances we ended up in a hawker place. But hey, Mary and Joseph had nowhere to go when she was about to give birth to Jesus. The only place available was a stable and they humbly accepted it.

Went travelling around after that eating. From Bak Chor Mee to Toast and coffee to Prata. I can't help it, being a soldier has rapidly increased my appetite. In total, checked my meter and apparently I drove a total of about 150km in 2 days. Feels good to be behind the wheel again!

Everything Only In Time

Completed my 'Situational Test' aka Sit Test this last week in camp. Hence the late book out.

Immediately rushed down to Gillian's home for our Lector's Christmas party. A nice start to the festive season especially since I'm undergoing military training and won't get many opportunities to celebrate. I guess we all have different walks of life. Drove down to East Coast beach after for supper with Kelvin.

Attended Mass this morning with my bro (Praying for you Addison that you prepare well and ace your papers this week!) and then met Corey and Bob for steamboat and dessert at Everything With Fries! A belated birthday celebration for Bob and Corey who has just finished his National Service liability whereas I have just begun mine. All in all, I'm very thankful for the opportunity to even book out and experience freedom and spend time with family and friends which we so easily take for granted.

On a different note, had my first official book-out this weekend. Did dinner at Scruffy Murphy's on Friday night with Corey and Bob. Breakfast with G on Sat, lunch with Darren and Sheryl at Dome. Novena and Movie in the evening followed by dinner and drinks at Durty Nelly's with Addison and Corey and Dom and Hazel joined us too. All in all, had really good food with fun and loving friends and family. Will be booking in this evening.

Pre-Enlistment Madness!

I remember receiving a letter back in May informing me of my Nov 9 enlistment date into the army in which I will be undergoing a 9 week basic military training. And now, 6 months later this day beckons. Running every night at East Coast was literally my only source of escape into feeling safe and drowning my doubts and fears about enlistment.

But this whirlwind of a week was definitely a big push in the right direction. Been receiving so much encouragement and prayers from my family, friends, lectors, etc! And for everyone that I have had the opportunity to meet up with or talk to on the phone, I'm truly blessed and knowing that I have this HELLA GOOD circle of people around, it makes me inspired to serve and protect all of you, UNDERNEATH IT ALL!

English vs Singlish

Had lunch at Astons today with Karen and some colleagues. During lunch one of them said the party behind me are teachers too from hearing their conversation (It was quite loud). I said their most probably in the CL dept since their all speaking Mandarin. Bewildered, she replied that their not speaking Mandarin but English or the correct term rather would be, Singlish! Haha! A hybrid of English, Malay, Hokkien, Punjabi, etc and mostly spoken in Singapore.

I pressed harder to hear again and shit man, they really were speaking in English or rather, Singlish. It was so bad and they spoke so fast I didn't believe it could really be in ENGLISH.

I wonder if people can really grasp the skill of switching on and off their use of Singlish. When I travel overseas I find myself not using Singlish at all but it occasionally slips on rare occasions.

H2O, the vital element that keeps us all up and running. And lucky for us, G and I got some very much needed hydrotherapy at Holland V over the weekend. To be honest, I do not drink the minimum amount of water needed per day and that has led to some undesirable outcomes. Trying to improve on my water consumption especially now that I'm working and need to use/ STRAIN my voice so often.

Just as you can never have too many cupcakes, you can never be too old. Dora's turning 21 soon and she hosted a pre-birthday dinner party at her home last night. She had over 30 different cupcakes to substitute a birthday cake. Complementing the treats were bottles of Rosemount Champagne which is one of my favourite things to have.

Great night indeed!

Went down to Zouk after that with Dom to meet Toria and a couple of friends. Had some engaging conversations over drinks and dancing. It's refreshing to hear the perspectives they had about some things. Although honesty and constructive criticism is something that not everybody would like to hear, I believe it is important but you've got to learn to not take it to heart. Meet ups with friends and family over the weekend put so much life back in me again after weeks of covering duties in St Pat's. Had a great dinner with Addison and Desmond on Friday with so much discussions about Teaching life and swapping stories with each other about our experiences in the classroom and shenanigans from students.

Managed to catch up with Tor, Dom and Chris for dinner on Sat and made some extra money after from Poker at Cor's house with the homies. Spent Sunday meeting at my cousin's home for their kid's First Holy Communion, birthday party and watched the F1 night race! The only daunting thing I must admit about this weekend is that I have been considering letting somebody I once left behind back into my life again. After tying up loose ends it seems everything was great, in fact, fantastic! But perseverance from people seems to have an impact on me. What will I do?

I am not a pretentious bloke like some try to be. Turning up their mp3 players to hard rock songs and when it shuffles,"Take A Bow" by Rihana comes on and you immediately switch the song to another ghetto gangsta track because you are embarrassed your friends will know you listen to bubble gum pop shit!

Or even some that persistently deny doing any wrong and refuse to face the consequences of their actions. If you talk about being a man at least face up to your actions rather than sulk and cry like a loser. Why not just get comfortable in your own skin for a change?

I take my hat off to the people that actually know how to think for themselves and stand on their own two feet. They are not afraid of how others perceive them to be. These are the gentlemen of the future!

Got a whole new meaning to the term "Down Under" on my vacation to Perth, WA last week. And boy is everything low, loaded and branded! The thing I find appealing going to another country is that I'm always living a different lifestyle. That's kinda like my motto and I live true to it by doing things I won't normally do back home.

Here's a breakdown of the things I did in Perth; From taking the subway like J Lo... to eating to my heart's content like Kirstie Alley... to visiting Churches like Mother Teresa... to shopping like Paris Hilton... to relaxing with the company of nature and country like Jason Mraz... and last but not least partying it up like P Diddy! (Ok not, Diddy, that's a tad over the top! Oh wait, Yes, Diddy!)

It was only a week so that was about all we could squeeze into the itinerary. I must admit I didn't think I was gonna have as much fun as I did in Perth and I'm glad everything happened the way it did. To my mates, the blokes and blonds, thanks for a good time!

Corey was just recently promoted as Sergent of his unit. And in celebration of his new rank and hmm bigger pay cheque, it called for another visit to Chevy's with a bottle of famous grouse waiting to be opened and some dancing! What's so great about this bar is that play everything from The Beatles to Jay-Z; from the 1960's to 2000's; from the young to the old! I think in our future visits we won't just be listening to just the band play but rocking out to the singing from within our circle too. Now that would be awesome!

Attended the St Patrick's School Youth Olympic Games Carnival. Had loads of catching up with teachers and former school mates and the usual nicknack. Went for Addison's housewarming party after. So glad for him that he has moved out from his little squeezy room back at the condo to his new chic and utterly SICK new crib! Progressed on to Shangrila after for Lorenzo's farewell party. Lucky guy's going to be in France for his Air Force training for about a year.

It's no wonder I'm so lethargic everyday.

My go-to shop for pastries and cakes is nowhere but Savoury Fare at East Coast! Some friends and family would know me for buying them the delicious... Oreo Cheesecake on their birthday. But just recently, they added a new scrumptious... mouth-watering... Brownie Cheesecake and after one bite, it'd be no shocker why it is my current staple!

We bought this for Cassie's birthday last week and I was gratified to find that everyone including Debs who doesn't eat cheesecake liked... I mean LOVED it after trying some. Pearl said "like" is a total understatement, and hell yeah it is! It's gonna leave you feeling Yummy head to toe. If you're diet drama, you still can't help but grab hold of another piece!

Last weekend together with the crew we celebrated Cassie's 20th birthday. We met first for the 11.15am Mass at Holy Family and afterwards cabbed down to Vivo for lunch and headed to Palawan beach at Sentosa. We were pretty lucky to have perfect weather that Sunday afternoon being that it rained quite much the past week or so. But anyway it was a really perfect day filled with our usual bullshit but underneath all that, we have fun and love each other to the core. Life is just a lullaby. Everything that happens, happens for a reason. Happy Birthday, Gorgeous!

I think I have a relatively good work ethic. Started work at Sentosa Golf Club doing F&B, waitering stuff. And despite my slow pace at adjusting to a new environment and constant nonsensical chattering, I was actually commended for my work and given an honor that I was told nobody else had received.

Whenever I go into a new job, I like to get into it with the idea and remember that this is new and there's always something I can take away from the job and experiences I engage in. Hence why I'm USUALLY not too concerned about the amount I'm being paid. I know it sounds cliché but sometimes the reward of the experience makes up for the lack of money or the "voluntary service" provided.

Furthermore, certain things like the ethics and practices of your colleagues; the operations of the industry; the challenges and solutions of a problem are few examples of things to look out for. Basically, capitalize on everything you do because one day it would just come in handy. Despite the strenuous work load at the club having colleagues that you can talk and joke with makes it all worth the time and effort! Oh and being paid helps a tad too!

Bought 2 new shirts about a month ago for 2 celebrations that was to take place in July. The first was the brown shirt I wore for Gavin's birthday and the second piece a white shirt with a blue line going down in the middle and I wore this for Diana's 20th last Wednesday! It reminds me of being a sailor for some reason. And both are from Topman! I think the new collections that have been coming in recently are really starting to take off!

Due to some lack of mixers, guests at the party ended up mixing really weird concoctions. But that was all good after I tried this delicious treat at the party called "Crinkles" brought by Erika all the way from the Philippines. After one, I just could not help myself but ate one after the other. The party moved over to Zouk after for some dirrty dancing all the way until closing and back to the hotel then! Hence the lack of updates due to the lack of sleep! Happy Birthday, Diana!

It is so frequent to hear someone saying "I know you so well". But do they, really?! People have claimed to think they do "know me" but many times they prove unsuccessful and I don't blame them, not all the time at least. But then don't say you do if you don't or I'll just hold you to it!

I really am a hard person to read because I have my emotions shielded. I prefer to keep the things in my head and heart latched safely where they belong otherwise you might become susceptible to the wrong crowd.

Universal, home to many of the blockbusters and some of our favorite television shows! Visited Resorts World Sentosa last week with Brother Ed. I don't know why I've never been here before but I gotta say we thoroughly enjoyed our visit! It's too bad we need to pay to get in the Casinos though, I wish I had dual citizenship so I could go in and out whenever I wanted. Will be down here again next week to celebrate Cassie's birthday! Spent my Friday night at the National Museum, Night Festival 2010. It was a great display of Performances, Films and Exhibitions.

On our stop at the Peranakan Museum, we noticed that they had a video presentation of a Peranakan Mass recorded at Holy Family Church some years back. And I was featured in the video! It's located at Gallery 7 under the Catholic section. Being me, I snapped some screen shots from the video. I could have gotten better shots but my camera ran out of battery and I had to use my E72 camera which was lagging that night. Overall, it was a fantastic festival and a nice change of scenery.

Congratulations to Spain on their first ever World Cup victory! I'm not a big soccer fan but there's just something about tournaments like the World Cup that draws you in anticipation and intensity about the winners and losers.

As I watched the game, I could not be more than happy to see Spain victorious. The players played with such confidence and great defense and most importantly sportsmanship! Which is more than I could say for the Dutch. From the many yellow cards the Netherlands had received in such a short span of time, it was obvious that their tactics and mind were not in the game but rather to "kill and destroy"! The most ruthless act to me was when Nigel De Jong of the Netherlands tackled Xabi Alonso of Spain and delivered a kick in the chest!

Iker Casillas, Captain and goalkeeper, left audiences bewildered with his skills and charm on the field from jumping and kicking to ensure the safety of his team's victory! One of the best matches and was definitely filled with some drama, comedy (the part where everyone was falling like a domino effect) and a great ending! Oh what it must be like to be in Spain right now and all the celebrations! Maybe the team would be getting free stuff for the next 4 years!

I hate when people tell you that you've changed, wait not tell you, say it behind your back. What does that really mean?! As you grow, it's granted that you change. It's so easy to talk. If I've changed than I'm glad I did because however things worked out because of it was the best thing that could have happened.

Sometimes when I'm upset or frustrated at someone, I realize my frustrations have nothing to do with the person but more at my own self. Do we look to take our anxieties out on others because it seems easier than lashing ourselves. I guess it's true what they say, "What matters most is how you see yourself".

The question that haunts me most is how much I trust myself that what I'm doing is the right thing. Is it worth investing all that thought and effort and not reap anything out of it?

Most of the thoughts in my head right now is about the future and where I am headed. One of my childhood friend and neighbor will be spending his last week here in Singapore before moving to Australia for further studies. Hence, some close friends and family threw a going away dinner party at their home last night. It was an authentic Indian meal and I decided to give it a go and ate with my hands rather than the normal cutlery. I hate not using cutlery as I've never been good at eating with my hands. It took me longer than most others but I'm glad I didn't throw in the towel! Now my fingers smell of curry!

Took 3 days to complete reading Eclipse before it's opening last Thursday on July 1. It was almost a miracle that I managed to complete the whole book in time as I had many interruptions in between reading and it totally shifted my focus.

Caught the movie with twilight buddy, Pearl. It was just last November that I posted about our trip to see New Moon. It's really crazy how fast time flies! I'll not talk about how bad the movie was since I'm certain everyone would have heard so much by now. But the fighting scenes were really great!

Watched the latest installment of the Toy Story series this week with Addison. I absolutely love Woody and the whole Toy Story franchise. Definitely in my list of best movies of all time! World Cup Fever!

Football night at my cousin's house on Sat. I only watched the Ghana vs Australia match. I must say the Socceroos gave a good game with only 10 players on the field! Decided to raise the stakes after and made a bet with my niece. I'm on team Brazil and she's with Argentina. So whichever team goes furthest in the competition would win the bet! PS: If anyone wants to bet with some real cash just lemme know! LMAO!

Basically if I win, she has to give me the royal treatment the next time I go over. Roll out the red carpet and "paparazzi" stuff. But if she wins then I give her a treat at whichever place of her choice. Pretty excited for more upcoming matches in the weeks to come!

We also celebrated Karen's birthday this weekend with a very satisfying super hot female lunch which left my heart racing and head pounding. I literally could not bear walking after that. Time to return back to gym this coming week.

I have officially signed up for the Army half marathon in September! Been a dream of mine to run for some time now. Hence, in the next few weeks it's gonna be running and more sports for me! Looking forward to the new living aka the new routine. Oh and it's gonna be good training for the army too!

Last but not least, Addison will be coming back tonight after 3 long weeks in Thailand on his military mission! I'm glad he was able to rough it out and survive the strenuous activities. Some motivation for me when I enlist later in the year. But anyway welcome home, buddy!

Vesak Day, an annual holiday celebrated commonly in Asia was just a bit more than a week ago. Living in a multi-cultural society my Godfather suggested we do some visiting to learn more about this holiday. We did a few of the common practices during our trip like bathing the baby Buddha and placing the lotus flower into a whole array of other similar ones and making a wish simultaneously when performing both these customs. It was indeed an interesting visit and experiencing and learning more about a different culture.

The Banking And Finance Graduate (Edit)

I officially graduated Singapore Polytechnic with a Diploma in Banking and Finance on May 19, 2010. Although Graduation went better than I thought it would, what made it less memorable was the absence of Christian and Victoria. The latter had also promised me that she would come but eventually didn't. That really sucked. At least the "goodbyes" and the "see-you-soon" from many friends over the past three years was pretty nostalgic and put a nice close to this chapter of my life. Last week I watched an independent film titled "The Stoning Of Soraya M.". The movie set in Iran is based on a true story and was indeed brilliant.

It portrays the innocence of women in countries where men are superior to women and the latter are treated as second class. I.e If a man accuses a woman of a crime, she would have to prove her innocence without the man needing to provide evidence of the accusation to begin with. However, if a woman accuses a man of a crime, she would need to give evidence of his guilt without the man needing to prove his innocence. This discrimination towards women brings literal meaning to the saying "It's A Man's World".

In this movie, the husband of Soraya, Ali, wants a divorce from her so he can get re-married to another lady. Soraya refuses as she has four kids to feed and it would not be possible if her husband abandons and leaves her to fend for the whole family. Thus, Ali frames Soraya for adultery and convinces the entire town and "Government officials" that she is guilty. Her punishment... To be stoned.

It's really such a shame to see that this in still being practiced down there and other cities in the world. You would think that by now someone would have put their foot down and stopped this discriminating laws but it's not done yet. We can only pray for the safety of innocent people everywhere.

Honey, Where Did My Ring Go?

The whole reason I planned this trip to California to begin with was to attend my cousin's wedding. And on May 1, Melvin tied the knot with fiance Mayra with a beautiful wedding ceremony and dinner held at The Grand in Long Beach.

There's something about me that finds so much fun in attending weddings. I've traveled to India, Australia and now America to attend and be part of one of the biggest day one celebrates in their life. The other "big days" has got to be the day you move out of your parent's home and live independently, right? Or maybe the day you reach 18 or 21 and become legal to do most "fun" activities.

But anyway, this wedding was no different from all the others I had attended. Meaning, I always meet new family that I've never met before. The table I was seated at was arranged for us "kids" aka "cousins" and they were crazy and so much fun to be around with. Hope I get to meet up with them again.

The most unique idea at the wedding was this photo booth set up. Guests would go inside with props provided and get their pictures taken. When they are done, the photos would be printed immediately and pasted in the guest book and they can sign and write their best wishes for the couple next to their picture. I thought that was just genius!

Towards the end of the night, Melvin lost his wedding ring. The DJ stopped the music and turned on the lights disrupting the "club like" atmosphere going down on the dance floor. Everybody frantically started searching under tables and chairs until one of the Groom's men found it and and the party resumed! My cousin Briana is planning her wedding in California next year and wants a Military themed wedding. Ironic since I'm going to be in the army.

Giving Back, The Idol Way

My visit to California in 2008 coincided with American Idol Gives Back and being a fan of the show, I went for the opportunity and bought a ticket which burnt a hole in my pocket after that. I didn't really have a choice since the less costly ones were sold out and I had really wanted to attend the show. My only consolation? The fact that the money goes to charity!

Idol Gives Back aired again last night and this time it was held at Pasadena whereas in '08 it was held at the Kodak Theatre which was way more convenient since I was staying within walking distance from there. It was a pretty cool experience going for the event and I was seated in the middle on the second level.

Some peeps beside me thought I was a seat filler and they became pretty fascinated when they learnt I was from Singapore... that never gets old.

Keeps Getting Hotter

The temperature this past week soared to over 29 degrees. You would think being on a hot island back home I'd be used to it by now but no. The changing conditions from hot to cold and cold to hot put me under the weather for a while.

It showered on Monday so we pushed our Disney plans to Tuesday and went to the mall on Monday. Wednesday was California Adventures and with the recommendation of Nikki, we tried "California Screaming", a roller coaster ride with a 360 degree loop.... Went on it TWICE! We would have gone more but the heat was a disaster. I was really surprised how my 3 year old niece, Haley was so confident and braved through rides like "Tower Of Terror", "Space Mountain" and others. In one photo, she turned around to look at this guy with a really frightened face. It looked like she was thinking to herself "Why's this guy screaming? RELAX!"

Then Thursday we drove down to Irvine Spectrum where many popular brands are located at. Venice Beach was on Friday, one of my favourite places. The beach was beautiful! There was quite a handful of really weird people too. I guess that just adds to the culture of Venice Beach. And the homes there cost a bomb too. You're basically paying a fortune for living in the area and getting crappy houses. Woke up early on Saturday for a two hour drive to Palm Springs. This one's another beautiful place and Gwen Stefani vacationed there about two weeks ago. It was my second time in this area. Again like in 2008, we went up the mountains and breathed in some of the cleanest air you could ever inhale. Walked around in the snow and went down to the outlet malls for some crazy shopping afterwards.

After Cassie and Malcolm left on Sunday, I went to a sports bar with Nich and watched my first hockey game. After being a patron in there, I wonder how people enjoy watching soccer games at coffee shops? lol... Then it was Mass at Church and a close to Week 2.

Welcome To Orange County

Updates from my trip thus far.

Arrived into LAX on Tuesday evening. Danielle, Vanessa and I went to Yard House for dinner and then met some other friends over at a bar, "Envy" at Downtown Fullerton to party a bit.

Decided to chill at home on Wednesday with family. We ended up playing "Family Feud". What did I learn from game night? That, basically I need to work on my general knowledge and speed skills!

On Thursday, Danielle and I ran some errands and I created an account with Bank Of America. Yes! I officially have an a checking and savings account and a debit card with BOA. My card should be arriving in the mail within 5 days.

Went to the airport on Friday to pick up Cassie and her brother. Had some lunch at home and after my Aunt dropped us at the mall where we spent almost 5 hours browsing through every store possible. This was followed by our Good Friday service at Church.

Put on our blue suede shoes and left for Hollywood on Saturday. Took on some star power on the 2 hour Hollywood land tour and Mdm Tussuad's Wax Museum.

Attended Easter Mass followed by family lunch, Easter Egg Hunt, Beer Pong and Poker on Sunday!

Live Like We're Dying

April Fool's Day was made to humiliate people and a day to joke and lie without feeling bad about it.

2 years ago (2008) when I was on vacation in Los Angeles, Big D and Small D pulled a really twisted and deceitful prank on me. It all began while I was out at a mall with my cousin and I got a call from Small D saying that the group of them were out cycling and Big D was hit by a truck. She continued on that they were on the way to the hospital and she was afraid and didn't know what to do. She sounded so sincere on the phone.

After we hanged up, my cousin and I talked:

V: It's April Fool's today, Danny
Dan: Yea, you think their pulling a fast one on me? She sounded so frightened on the phone!

Small D continues to call me through the evening with updates at the hospital and sounds really worried from each call. And after about an hour or so she begins crying and sobbing through the phone! An hour later, she calls again with news that Big D died! She doesn't know what to do! She's so scared, etc. I'm going like WTF? Is this for real or what! But I try to comfort her still.

After the call with Small D, I phone my cousins and they tell me it's all bullshit and their pulling a prank on me.
